Ab 16. Juni 2009 wird also der Provisioning Server den neuen Namen Provisioning Services tragen. Aber nicht nur der Name ist neu in der Version 5.1, sondern es warten auch einige neue Features auf ihren Einsatz.
Standard Image Mode NIC TeamingJeder Kunde, welcher zum 28. Mai 2009 eine laufende Subscription hat, kann natürlich kostenfrei auf die neue Version updaten.VHD Direct Boot
- Ability to use NIC teaming drivers for Broadcom and Intel NICs to setup "teams" on PVS Target Devices
User Assigned Virtual Disks
- Ability to boot PVS VHD files directly within Windows Virtual Server and Hyper-V
Offline DB Support
- vDisks are assigned to Groups rather than machines
Multiple Partition vDisks
- Ability for PVS to continue to be able to boot and run Target Devices even when the database is unavailable
Server Initiated Failover
- Ability to create vDisks that include multiple partitions (e.g. both a C: and D: drive)
Improved Logging
- Ability to initiate failover of all Target Devices attached to a particular PVS Server to the other Servers in the PVS farm
Auditing
- Improvements to our current logging facilities both on the Server and the Target Devices
Read-only vDisk Storage
- Ability to keep a log of actions taken by system administrators
XP Embedded Streaming
- Modifications, that allows a vDisk to be stored on a “read-only” file system
- Ability to provision MS Windows XP Embedded
