Im Windows Server 2008 R2 DHCP Server gibt es einen Bug, der nur auftritt wenn man eine sog. Split-Scope Konfiguration fährt.
Konfiguriert man auf beiden DHCP Servern das gleich Scope und konfiguriert hier Reservierungen, wird auffallen, dass diese Reservierungen teilweise verschwinden und wenn man versucht, diese neu anzulegen diese als schon bekannt gemeldet werden. Nach dem (fehlgeschlagenen) Versuch einer zweiten Reservierung wird die Ursprüngliche wieder angezeigt. Allerdings ist die Beschreibung verloren gegangen.
Dieses Problem ist bei Microsoft bereits bekannt und ein Hotfix (zunächst “private”) ist für Mitte April 2010 angekündigt.
Workarounds sind folgende:
Workaround 1:
Configure a delay on one of the scopes so that retraction does not happen. (client selects the quicker server, the other does not have to retract)
Workaround 2:
Periodic reconcile: as the reservation is only deleted from the database, a reconcile brings it back from inmemory structure.
The problem is that with this you cannot ensure that your database is always in a constistent state.
